Hi, I’m Graham, and I’ve been allergic to peanuts and tree nuts my whole life.
At home in Atlanta, my allergies are manageable. My family knows what I can eat, restaurants understand us, and I’ve gotten really good at reading ingredient labels.
But travelling is different.
Last year, my family went abroad, and something that should have been fun became stressful fast.
Trying to explain a life-threatening allergy to someone who doesn’t speak English is scary.
Looking at a menu you can’t read and hoping the food won’t make you sick is even worse.
My parents tried everything—translation apps, printed cards, even acting things out (which was pretty embarrassing). But there was always that moment when the food arrived and we just had to hope we’d explained it well enough.
So my mom and I built AllergySpeak.
We wanted more than a simple translation. We wanted an app that explains how serious the allergy is, shows hidden ingredients to watch for, helps identify risky local dishes, and even has emergency phrases ready if something goes wrong.
Now when we travel, I can actually enjoy food instead of being afraid of it. I can show my phone to a chef and feel understood.
No kid should miss out on amazing food because of allergies—and no parent should lose sleep worrying about their child’s next meal.
That’s what AllergySpeak is for.
Built by a food allergy family, for food allergy families.
At Allergy Speak, our mission is to ensure that individuals and families with severe food allergies can travel safely and confidently. We believe that everyone should enjoy the freedom of exploring
